I don't know what this detail is, or about, hoping some of you do, and can explain.

well, it turned out, it was a weep ring w/ #7 rebar, 1/4" flare bevel

Ya. It's simple weld detail symbols there. Nothing real complicated.

I don't see where any 1/4" flare bevel welds are being called for on that drawing. I do see some 5/8" ones though.

i'm not sure what those 5/8 flare groove pertained to. I think theres some error in that print. the inspector did some math, or trig or something (that i didnt understand) , that gives you the percentage of throat of flare bevel weld on each side (which rounded off to 1/4" ) , based off the radius of the #7 rebar and the formula. So i ran some stringers for a hefty 1/4", being its hard to measure. I welded together a template, that I was told they'd use as a guide to bore holes. I didn't really understand what, was all going on, i just kept my mouth shut, and nodded yes when i was talked to, and did what i was told, and left.

It looks a mess to me... I'd have needed to see the part to figure out what it all meant for sure.

...And probably still ask to make sure I understand.

a mess, thats an understatement. the iron workers had caged it in w/ rebar, suitable to hold a gorilla in alcatraz. it took me 6 hrs w/ a mirror and bending rod, being as flexible w/ my body as a snake to do the bottom three, the top three were a lil better.

That's outside of my skills for sure

Plus, I'm about as flexible as a dump truck is agile.
