    Sa200 armature question

Hey guys, I have a 1970 round barrel. The commutator was rubbing on the inside of the generator housing due to a bent exciter bracket. I just pulled it apart and put a new exciter bracket on but i didnt have access to any of the red insulating paint to spray the exposed are back down. So I put it all back together welds great but at about the 7 o clock position on the armature i can feel it getting warmer than the rest of the generator housing. Is this normal? Or is it because of lack of insulation. It wore down the inside of the generator housing maybe a 32nd. Thanks for any help

Probably just heat from the coil in that location. If you ran it for 8 hours is that spot still warm or is the entire barrel warm?
Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
