    Grinding wheel recommendations?

It’s time to replace my medium (60-80 grit) 8”x1” grinding wheel on one of my bench grinders. I mostly grind steel welds with it. I know, a better welder should not have to grind welds, but this is a finished product and has to be blended smooth.

I want a good balanced wheel that will last, but reasonably priced. I see brands listed for $20-200. I have a Dayton and a Baldor grinders that do a good job so I don’t want just a cheap wheel.

What brands and vendors do you recommend?

    Thank you for your input.

The last wheels I bought were from Enco.
IIRC they were TruMax wheels. They are
still working after several years of moderate
use, so I’m thinking they’re good.
Now that Enco is gone I will probably get
wheels from MSC when a “ free shipping
and 15% off when ordering $100 or more“
type deal comes around. I’ll just have to
wait until I need $100 worth of stuff,
Machine shop I worked in used Norton
    wheels, with few exceptions.

The Norton green is rated for 3150 rpms, my Dayton is 3450 rpms. I see other wheels rated above 3450 rpms, but still trying to figure out which one.

    Ideas?
