You have to try a industrial classed 3 phase mig using dual shield, and also the spray-arc mode.. I have had the fancy Pulse units, and there is something about the quality of the arc cone of a high end old school unit.. It's amazing value for like $250.00 in general.. You will get nothing to show for your extra money, except features that that little value in general fab work. The value is playing with some extra buttons, and smaller package mostly.. I had inverters a long time, and they are great, just nothing like a big old unit you know is always going to turn on, and weld. After the warranty with a inverter, it's always cross your fingers on the multi thousand $$$ machine at that point.

Well it may not be industrial, but my "big" MIG is 3-phase. I run that baby on 240V-480V. Besides, my machines already take up too much space in my garage even after having built the 8ft tall MIG cart.

It's evident that your collection enthuses you and it's very cool, but just wondering, what other brands have you tried? It's always good to have an open mind.

I'd like to try a HTP/Stel, but just out of interest. I'm more emotionally invested in the German machines. Or Miller
Yea I agree, it's all personal preference. The only other brands I've had were Harbor Freight 165A TIG, Eastwood TIG & MIG, and a Miller 211 Inverter MIG.

Thanks, as do you. I'm trying to quit, though.

I tend to like the Austrian or japan units myself, although the Italian stuff is quite good too. Just found that a older tech $250 3 phase mig has a special spray arc the super duty pulse units have a hard time matching.. I am sure if I let my buddy with his Stel Esab run the old school unit, he would be impressed too.. He likes his Japen unit better that the Stel in Arc quality but the Duty cycle on his stel is the feature that impresses him the most.. (Same with the old school machine I have)350 amps/ 100 %
