I use a thin diamond wheel, I’m not sure of the grit offhand, it looks like a tile cutting blade, but super fine specks of diamond. And it’s less than a sixteenth thick. Ordered off egay.
I use a dedicated 6” bench grinder for sharpening my tungsten (1/2” arbor). The tungsten is chucked up in an old drill for rotating during grinding.
For years I’ve used a white aluminum oxide grinding wheel on it (runs cooler than the standard gray wheels) but am wondering if there is a specific grinding wheel that I should use.
Thoughts?
Thx.

Tungsten ? I never get over excited. A 320 grit on my belt sander does fine.Yellow .German crap. dont recall the name. Starts with a P
Thanks all for the feedback. Since I already have a dedicated 6" grinder in the welding cabin I figured that I'd stick with it (it's paid for and only 10' away from the TIG welding bench!) Bonzoo - Moto: Thx for your suggestions though.
I've ordered a 400 grit diamond 6" wheel from Amazon. It should arrive on Wednesday so I'll try it out later this week. Southpaw, it's the 400 grit version of what you posted. If it's too slow on material removal I'll buy the one you linked to and run them back to back.
For the price, figured that I couldn't go wrong.
Pete - those diamond wheels sure look sweet!
