cutmaster 120 followed directions in manual but getting a fault. unit does not have multi voltage power power selector switch on back of machine. Any ideas ?

Did you add the jumper to contactor? Main wire going has a flat jumper connector that goes from #1 input to #3. Been a while but you have to have that jumper installed to get the 1/3 phase units to work. All the multi-voltage /phase machine have a low/high voltage switch on the back of the machine.. Wonder if you have a 600 volt unit only? Have to look up the model #, and it will clear it up.

manual said add 2 jumpers. I also read that only the US models have that switch ? used machine just got it , it was wired for 480 3ph.not familiar with 600V model , woiuld that be over seas version ? fault is ; red fault light with 65psi lit as well

All I know is my 82 came as a 3 phase layout, had one jumper in the side panel for single phase use.. If you change one more jumper I don't remember, but only the one was needed to add to the machine.. Try here.. He was a Esab tech, Thermal rep, and now back at Esab again. He knows Cutmasters.. You will get better info then I can provide..

So.... if yours doesn't denote a '1' phase does it even have the grid to the right of that that shows the current draws for both 1 and 3 phases... but probably minus the '1' phase blocks?
Sounds like it may only be a 3phase machine... not sure of the internal differences could be just a different input board or same board minus a few components or something like that....

As per jimcolt's (plasma guru extraordinaire) many posts on the subject in countless forums.... He recomends 2X the current max. draw of plasma for the phaseconverter capability.

edit: and this is with a rotary phase converter. I don't know if a static converter would/will work on the a120... hopefully jimcolt will pop in and lend a bit of knowledge :) although with out 'Plasma' in the title he might not...

Depending on how much you're gonna use it, you could always just buy a 3 phase generator to use for power. You can find generators cheap all over the place. Just an idea. But if you're gonna be using it every day or a few days a week it's not practical.

It will draw 128 amps of 240 volt single phase power..(measured in my shop) Just so you know it will take a warp drive to run it.. Call Gene above to get the final answer..
