Beginner Stick Welder here, seeking a little help.

I recently purchased a DAYTON 3Z562 295 AMP Welder, previous owner knew very little about the welder and had no documentation on the machine.
I can't find a date of manufacture but the serial number is W328367 (if that's of any help?) Also I am trying to locate an owners manual or PDF file that can tell me more about this machine, any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

    eMail me at- countryboy97504@yahoo.com

    Thanks

After doing some research quickly it appears that welder was made by Century which was later bought by Lincoln Electric. You might look on Lincoln's website for more information. Here's the parts sheet

I am pretty sure this is the exact same welder just rebranded for Craftsman/Sears, with a different wrapper on the outside. The internals appear to be the same. I am 99% this manual will answer all you questions: https://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/l...M/L0805139.pdf

You likely will not get a answer. Swede has not been on WW since 2019.

    Got a picture?
Twentieth Century built a machine sold by snake oil salesmen in the early 1970s. The one night engagement at a farm store in a two town area of 1200 residents total sold probably 30 welders. Most were AC version, a few sprung for DC welders. Mine was AC only cost $432? If I remember. This thing could do everything, (or so he said).
Mine was a fine AC welder, I welded with it for years. I also thawed numerous frozen underground water pipes with it. It surely was tough!

Eventually, I acquired one of the DC units sold that night. Still have both, but haven't plugged either in in years. I discovered Lincoln had a far better machine. I now have an Idealarc 300-300, big as a refrigerator.
An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared.

I did my early welding learning on a Craftsman 295 amp AC machine, dad sold it long ago. I still have a 230 amp Craftsman AC machine that works great.

I bought a AC 230 amp HF welder. It works great. I welded a horn on my homemade anvil with it. I used 5/32 7018 rod with no problem. I wished however i would have spent the extra money and bought a Lincoln, or bought one used like i did my Lincoln Mig welder, but its too late for that, im still happy with the machine.

Well it’s not a lifelong commitment to a welder like your wife. In this case you can cheat and use other welders or sell it and upgrade to a better model with no negative impacts.
