I bought a set of the ear plug lookin' thingies that you put in front of the feeder rollers. I have a roll of flux core that's been sitting uncovered in the shop, and it grew fuzz/dirt fur. Haven't used them yet. I'm hoping they'll clean the wire before the crud gets into the liner.

Does anyone know what ingredients are in welding wire lube and cleaner . . .

If you don't use it - you don't have to be concerned with what's in it.

IMNSHO wire-lube causes more problems than it helps . . .

Worst thing I ever did was use lube on the wire. If not kept wet the lube clogged the liner. Finally got fed up and bought a new liner and blow it out once a year and all is good.

 

I've tried the pads, all they do is collect junk and release all of it into your drive rolls and liner at the worst possible time.

 

lol, i believe it. i bought a 5 pack, used one, and never used the other 4. that innershiled wire is really dirty

 

I only use solid wire and have always used the felt folded over the wire and fastened with a large butterfly paper clip. Never use flux core, I figure if I need to weld outdoors stick will work just fine.
