Miniature Diver and Painting on Sea/Ocean theme

Howdy mates,
Promised to up more projects so here we go!
A mate asked for a miniature and a sculpture with a matching theme.
He doesnt know that I know this, but he is a hobby diver so I figured we'd go with an Ocean/Sea theme.
All he asked for is a surprise.




Oh yeah, pherhaps you'd want to see the painting?
It is in 3D meaning I built up and modeled the Octopus with special acrylic agent so it pops out of the painting. Not much of a painter of which I have overwhelming quantities of solid proof.

Now my friend and his boss (=g/f) popped by and picked up the finished stuff.
And provided us with some pics of the finished pieces I'll share below.


Heres is where my sculpture and painting found their home.
I think they did a really nice exhibition for the pieces.

I think that is more correctly called a claw hammer head shark, not to be confused with a ball pien or sledge hammer head shark. LOL.

Another small torch option to give color to the pieces is a tiny butane pencil torch.

This should have a small enough but hot enough flame to colorize the stainless in a more precise location.

Both the painting and metal sculpture are awesome, I bet it's the first thing in the house everyone shows people when they come over. They compliment one another and your boss did a great job with the way they set set them up. Usually when I hear "mixed media" I roll my eyes but this is pretty damn great.

When using a torch remember there is a part of the flame that is hottest (hottest temp and most concentrated heat output), on propane it is the tip of the inner blue cone flame. It's Likely the same for the butane but i'm not entirely sure, I'm sure it's easy to look up. This point is noticeably higher and could be the difference between getting the temps needed.

I like propane for the cost and volume available (I use a larger cylinder with an adapter), but it depends on location.

Also you might want to look into higher output propane torches if you haven't, i use a bernzomatic ts8000 and it surprised me with the output the first time i used it.
