Hobby welder and got started 50 years ago as a teenager. I convinced my dad I needed a welder and by perseverance we bought a Sears Craftsman oxy/acetylene set. I got busy and built a tube frame dune buggy with it. Lots of water under the bridge since then. I still have the gas setup but have acquired a Miller 172 MIG machine as well. Just ordered a Chinese plasma cutter from eBay tonight. It is a Lotos LTP5000D and it had good reviews. It has a few features such as scratchless arc starting and an IGBT inverter option which means it should work in a CNC application without messing up the electronics. I want to build a 4'X4' CNC plasma table soon so if anyone has done this and has a clever plan please let me know.
Thanks!
BTY, I live in Everett, WA. I think there is a guy in Auburn who started building and selling plasma tables so I should get some ideas from him. Check this build out if you are interested:
