A lot of the smaller diameters require shielding gas.

Hard Facing is a crude 1-2 pass process that doesn't need the aesthetics of Pulse. No real sense in buying a pulse gas when most Hard surfacing wires are formulated and run great on CO2. Save your pulse for something people can see and enjoy. Can you do it? sure. Do you need to? not hardly unless you are pulsing it for your own excitement.

Had the spec. sheet at the beginning but it doesn't list the parameters and deposition rates, which is odd because most Hobart wires do.

Because this thread would have been much shorter.

I’m going to start off running 25/75 then switch to co2 the next time I make a run into town.

I wanted to run a stoody wire it seem like they are more into hard facing but around here I think some one starting using the 960 and that what everybody knows and keeps in stock and wants to order in.

I don't think the shielding gas will make a lot of difference.
