I saw a thread that mentioned one of these. Guy said it got very hot after only a couple minutes of welding steel with a 1/16" rod. Then I found a pic of one that sure looks like it got hot, LOL.

A friend of mine gave me one of these:
I guess it would be in the same class as the one you posted.
Of course I played with it. Kind of pathetic, 120V AC.
Friend said he used it to "tack" exhaust pipes. He is in the used car business, not a weldor. I guess it might do that.
