    Re: a trailer gat question

I made a lift out ramp for my utility trailer(ramp on hinges that slide into pocket). Not a fan of "Swing out" doors on the back of moving vehicles. You need an awful lot of space to open it. Several years ago my helper forgot to latch a swing out door on my old chipper box truck. Door swung open while driving and smashed engine cover, and carburetor on my chipper. Well at least the chipper kept if from hitting a street sign. I was always nervous when dumping chips with it too. It was made out of 1 1/2" x 1/4" angle, and 11 ga plate., and 2ft high, and 6 ft wide. very heavy. I've seen them on some grain bodies, but not on a trailer. Probably hard to keep them lined up. Hopefully someone might have a picture of one.

I made one like this about 25 years ago in high school. Still going strong.

If you dont need the ramp it un-pins or folds under the trailer.

On one of my trailers I put dual swinging doors on it.
They lift off the hinges and flip over to be ramps.
I'll take some pics tomorrow afternoon.

Looks like a recoilless rifle on a small jeep trailer. Cool model
