Re: What year SA 200 ??
SN looks like A-461872. Can you confirm?
If that is the case - it is a 1963.

Is that an AC outlet I see under the middle of the setting dials? I thought those were all DC machines - no way to easily get 120vAC for other tools etc. Maybe that was an option on some? Or a power inverter off the starter battery? Though, back in the early '60s I don't think inverter technology was around...

Re: What year SA 200 ??
Looks like a rare red/blue face machine which apparently were made for the military and the engine is balanced. It's a very desirable machine if you can get it running and worth a few thousand bucks at least. Price isn't out of line and some people would be all over that. If it turns over probably just needs some mag and/or carb work. Plug in is 110 volt DC.

Re: What year SA 200 ??
Great description!
Might be stuck?!?
Simple to work on. Easy access to everything.
If it's worth your time...
Personally, I find some kind of Zen messing with old machinery.

Re: What year SA 200 ??
I’d offer $500 , worth that much in parts
-
Re: What year SA 200 ??
Being what it is, you'd want to try and fix it. Especially if it's not stuck, it's worth the asking price. My guess is the seller doesn't know what he has and that's great for the buyer. Anything less than the asking price is a good deal. If it is stuck or requires more work than you want to put into it, it wouldn't be hard to sell to someone else if advertised in the right place... like a welding forum. The factory red/blue face plate adds to the value over a standard red face or red/blue clone. I'd offer $600 so I wouldn't insult the seller with too low ball an offer. For comparison there is a non running red/blue face plate machine that needs a new engine listed for $2500 in the buy/sell forum.

Re: What year SA 200 ??
I’m sure somebody got a good deal.
I’d like to have one someday to tinker on.
But at this point in time I’ve got too many irons in the fire.

Re: What year SA 200 ??
The split front panel means it can’t be newer than 1967. Sometime in that year they went to the stamped one piece front panel on the SA200

Re: What year SA 200 ??
I ended up buying this machine paid 600$ for it. Engine was locked up solid.currently restoring the entire machine engine being bored out sadly it was already .020”

Re: What year SA 200 ??
This machine is now mine....I thought based by my code that it wasn’t a blue dial but it does infact have a blue dial face plate
-
Re: What year SA 200 ??
I'd guess the engine could be bored again. Very desirable welder.

good eye Dave. how did u know, or what did u see, thats blue, or blueface? part reason bein, i got one that looks like that, and its trailer looks alot like that too. i like white on older machines/welders, that white paint makes them look so much more eco/emission friendly

Re: What year SA 200 ??
yes I am in CT. Engine is torn down completely at the machine shop currently being bored out. I opted to remove the home built POS trailer it was on. Just had all new metal bent up for the battery box/radiator support. She’s gonna take awhile but it will be pristine when I’m done I’m a fanatic about details
