    Can someone help

Hi all, I am in need of some Aluminium boat bunk brackets. Is there someone in here that can make me a few out of some aluminum angle, if I give you the dimensions?

I just don’t have the tools to mill the slotted holes in the angle for the bolts to be able to adjust the height relative to the trailer.

Posting a picture with dimensions will help.
Do a Google Search or check Amazon.
If it's a basic bracket, buying online or from store propabably cost less.
If you need something special that's different.

I’ll post a pic tomorrow when the sun is out with some dimensions.

Here’s what they look like. I found some on eBay that will probably work, but I thought I would see if one of our members could do it for the same price. That way he/or she could make a little money.

That one doesn't look like its a precision piece. Drill a hole at each end of the slot and file it or use a die grinder.

It’s not a precision piece at all. The main problem I have is getting my hands on the aluminum angle. I was hoping someone here had some scrap they could whip up 10 of them for me.

Ok, it was a little lacking in your description of what you need. Posting a location would be helpful as finding someone close by would be a more economical way to go.

My apologies on that. I am in Louisiana.

Any reason you can't use steel and just bolt it to the trailer? It'd be cheaper, more fatigue-resistant, and you could probably get someone local to slap it together (without trying to find someone to weld aluminum)...just a thought.

It’s not welded to the trailer. It’s just a bracket that bolted to the upright support that’s welded to the trailer.

There are 10 of them that are original and those are galvanized but they are breaking from the salt water causing them to rust.

I had a guy do some work years ago, but he closed shop recently.

I guess I am just gonna get the ones I found on eBay and give it a try.

Give some dimensions on the angle. It looks like it is 2-1/2"×2-1/2"×1/4". Then it looks to be 3-1/2 inches long.
I might have some aluminum angle that could work.
I will check later today to see if I have it.
How much are the ones on ebay including shipping?
This way I know a ball park figure of your price range.

You are correct on your measurements.

The ones on eBay are 72.00 for 10 of them. Including shipping.

You might try looking at the metal shops in your area. Coremark Metal here in Minnesota has 6061-T6 equal length aluminum angle 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 1/4" x 3 foot (custom length + cut) for $22.40 plus shipping. If the width of the angles are 3-1/2" each then 3 feet of aluminum will work.

I do not have that exact size. The material I have is 2"x2"x1/4" and then I have some 2"x3"x1/4". The 2x3 may work if the 3" leg is the side with the slot.

    It is up to you.
I would need to know the diameter and length of the slot as well as how far down you want it on that leg.
Do you want the two holes drilled or are you going to drill them. I would need to know the diameter and spacing you want.

Thanks for checking. I think I am gonna just order the ones on eBay since they are the right size. I don’t want to put anyone out any further.

    Five bucks each

No, no one can ever do one offs cheaper than production

Don't mix steel and aluminum then put it in water, especially salt water.

    Jump up to stainless.

Yeah no kidding. My entire trailer is aluminum except for those brackets, and of course the leaf springs. Idk why they would put steel for those brackets.

That’s why I am changing them now. No worries for the future.

Why so many ? Can't you use two on ends and larger wood bunks ?
The ones I've seen only had two brackets front and rear. The wood bunks were 4x6's

Just the way the trailer is designed. It’s a 22 foot center console bay boat. It’s not a heavy boat. The bunks are actually 2x4’s

2x4's, that's why there are so many brackets. Many models use 4x6's and not 2x4's.
We have 4x6's for our 19' center console inshore / offshore boat.

Not the best design, but it’s what I have to deal with.
