    Welding Table Build

    I'm building one with a design similar to this with the slats.

    I've seen them built both ways, with leveling screws on each slat or all welded to the frame. I've laid out all the slats and it's very level on it's own, the table is only 48"x34" and I made sure the frame is very square and level. The slats are 34" x 1" x 3" .125 wall rectangle.

    Preference?

    Probably depends on just what you are going to use it for? how precise do you need?? or more to the point.. how precise of work are you capable of doing ??? My own personal use I'd say if you can't see light under a straightedge laid across the slats then I'd go for it!!! of course that's going to change when you actually weld the slats down

    Depending on your fabricating skills welding them is fine. Bolting maybe the safest. You don't need 5 pounds of wire or rod per slat. Many beginners use too much rod or wire.

    I think I'm doing ok, i just finished fully welding the frame and I'm less than 1/16" difference corner to corner. I think I clamp it all down and if it looks good I'll run with it.

    No matter how much sealant and foam tape I put on mine it still gets sand dust everywhere!!! I even plumbed a 1.5 inch vac line in to the left side to make it so's I can see when blasting

    The extension is a good idea... might have to think about doing that myself someday.... for now I just break out the big water blaster on big stuff
