You know what a pony bottle is in SCUBA diving?
It’s small but filled to 3000psi. You can fit an air hose on it with a regulator and have way more air than that cylinder at 125psi.
I am mot joining the arguments. That’s all you guys.

Too thick too budge and has small diameter So it’s very strong and will have full pen key hole weld with 5356. Plastic can hold 4 times the pressure of what I’m putting in at the same diameter why wouldn’t this hold a 1/4 of what plastic can hold? Given no corrosion inside if that’s what your stuck on

I’m guessing those pony tanks are made from 7075?

You don't need to put 3,000psi in it just put 125psi in it from a compressor.

Very true.
In a math comparison, head types on the vessel were:
Hemispherical (Hemi)
Semi Elliptical (SE)
Flanged and Dished (F&D)
Flat
The cylinder was 1/2" thick.
The thicknesses of each head type were calculated to match the known design pressure of the 1/2" cylinder.
Results:
Hemispherical: 0.2474"
Semi Elliptical: 0.4947"
Flanged and Dished: 0.8901
Flat end: 3.9120"
Flat needed 3.9120" to match 1/2" wall cylinder pressure specs....
Moto, you still believe you understand all the risks and the physics behind what you are doing?

Yes I do Dave. This tank won’t corrode inside and I’ll be filling from a safe air compressor
The 3000psi ones have 1/2” or so wall I believe. Mine is also about half the diameter of the ones I seen online. Which makes it strongermine is under 3” on the outside

Re: Air tank build for cleaning chainsaw oil/fuel caps
It was an example, one could use a paintball gun cylinder and do the same as scuba. Get it filled at any sporting goods store.
Also, almost every welding supplier sells breathing air refulls as well as air refills as well as co2 refills.
Options are open.

Unfortunately, you missed the point...but oh well.
The numbers I posted show how bad it is to use flat end caps btw...there is more too but doesn't seem like you're open to learning right now.

I don’t know what 1/2” tube your taking about what diameter tube your taking about and I couldn’t see needing over 3” thick ends Unless your talking about a 3’ diameter tube trying to hold 500 psi I’m clearly missing something not sure what pressure you’re talking either. Thank you for trying to help

No, your not open to ideas. Your looking for an" attaboy" big pay on the back for your nonscencacle " innovation". IMO that device would make a better piggy bank than an air tank since it would be hard pressed to inflate a basketball with that volume of air. As for the safety , go with it, it's your risk. But saying your open to suggestions means pay me on the back and praise the shlt out of me.

Re: Air tank build for cleaning chainsaw oil/fuel caps
I’ll just leave this here. Working pressure of the Pvc pipe is 450, yes 450, yes 450 psi and it didn’t blow till over 1,100 psi
flat ends we’re used looks like. And I’m using aluminum btw Incase you over thinkers forgot which is way stronger, which is way stronger then plastic.

That's a hydrostatic " test". Big difference between that and air pressure. The former is a leak, the latter a bomb.

Re: Air tank build for cleaning chainsaw oil/fuel caps
Ok, be nice to figure out the equivalent to air pressure. Probably still extremely high pressure.

Re: Air tank build for cleaning chainsaw oil/fuel caps
I use this setup like Joker was mentioning. A scuba tank, adjustable scuba regulator, 5 foot hose and QD for air tools. I keep something loke this in my work truck. The steel tank is next to a 19 cubic foot aluminum tank then the 6 cubic foot aluminum pony tank also mentioned earlier. I have also used this to power a nailgun inside and on top of the house.
Moto does not have a dive certification card and will not be able to get a scuba tank filled at a dive shop.
I would be very surprised if a welding shop would fill a scuba tank. As a diver who is also certified in a bunch of other diving related maintenance and inspection tasks, I would not trust their air quality. Although some places might have industrial quality high pressure air compressors.
I have access to and can make a set of fittings which allows me to fill this tank from a shop compressor. That would be to about 135 to 160 psi. Moto could potentially do the same. He will not.
