Bending flat bar stock for L brackets.

Hello. I have some 1/8" x 1 1/2" HR flat bar stock that is too flimsy for the brackets I have to bend up at 90 Deg. The shelf brackets are going to be about 10" x 10" Max. L shape
Two brackets need not hold more than 150 lbs. total. Should I go with HR 1/4" thickness or go with Cold rolled 1/4" thickness. Thanks, Al

How about making and welding in a brace to each end of the bracket or make a shorter one to reach about 1/2 the length of each leg.

Put a 45 deg support brace between the vertical and horizontal pieces

Why not use angle iron ?? Notch one leg 45 degrees, bend to 90 , and weld.
    Stronger than flatstock without gussets.

Perhaps you could turn the 1/8 on edge. Then weld on mounting tabs or plate. In would only use 1/4 if it was all in had.
