I love it when I finally get to use something I've been saving in the garage for 20 years.

60 degrees today that means time to wrap this up, it has the feel of a firemans arcade ride

bedliner paint for the cockpit area and seam sealer even make my seams look presentable. then the bedliner paint got white top coat.

well, i think kids get phones about the time they learn how to crawl out of the crib. at least in my area, thats my observation when i go to the store and see a baby in the shopping basket w/ a phone, screaming/crying at his mother to buy him an icey drink. maybe not the poets grandkids, but no seatbelts either

You might need to add some locking casters so you can get your dollies back. https://www.weldingweb.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well - if this cool helicopter is going on springs - I do hope that then there is a motor with an unbalanced shaft installed as well - to give it the bouncy vibrating visual effect - as well as the newscaster traffic reporter vocal effect when the kiddos speak - just mount an old bench top grinder underneath and whack off a piece of the wheel LOL

    Re: metal pipe play helicopter

    WAY COOL PROJECT!!
I also have 4 grandchildren 3 to 10 years old,,,
One of them saw this somewhere and they just had to have it.

I made it out of two pieces of pallet rack parts (1/8" thick rectangular tube)

We ended up stopping at only 4 tires,, the height of the top two seemed to scare the climbers a little too much,,,

Even the 3 year old can climb it,, they climb it almost daily.
perfect for this COVID stay at home time for the kids!!

We ended up having to use two bolts and four of the giant DIY washers on each pair of tires to keep the tires from rotating,,

I love the helicopter but every time I look at it I think it needs a set of wheel with a small engine!

    This thread delivers.

We lost my MIL's father last year. He flew helicopters in Vietnam, and he loved kids. He would have loved this project!
