Good for you. That is a good deal for the money IMO.

I’m glad you gave up on the table-saw plan.

Exactly I used a plywood table for the longest time... kept lighting it on fire then eventually got a used homemade sorta welding table from a friend made of 14 gauge sheet... dented real easy when I started working with heavy stuff then along came a quarter inch top 3 x 5 I thought I was in heaven!!!! now most of the welding work I do is field work... and my welding tables sit at home collecting rust but for some reason I want another one Saw this piece of plate at my buddies yard the other day.... 4 foot by 10 foot... by 2-3/8ths

I think it'd make a great table I just gotta try an talk him outta it

Not sure if I'd want to drill it or not though??? sometimes the holes are plenty handy...

    I'll bet you would

Don't think the ranger could handle it though.... should come in at ~4100 lbs+ would probably be OK in my powersmoke... as I've had 5K in it... but that was in the bed... this would stick out a bit

I don't know where he got it... I suspect it's just surplus or similar extra from a project that got done or cancelled???

Make fun of my Ranger why don't you

My welding table top is only 2ft x 8ft but it's THREE inches thick.

Hey now!!! I wasn't making fun of it... just noting it's 'short comings'

Yes, I noticed that table in the pics you put up the other day very nice.... was even going to mention how thick it was but forgot when I had to run down to the shop

I wish mine hadn't been left outside. The factory coating was thicker than normal, so when the peeling and pitting started, it changed the surface more than usual. It's still level from end to end with no warping, but there are going to be variations in the surface, and no it won't be getting Blanchard ground...
