Hobart Arcstar 251nt problem

So I have bought from auction a long standing Hobart Arcstar 251nt welder generator. Starts and runs very well, but doesn't weld or generate power on 240v sockets. What should be first things to look at. Thanks.

check the brushes on the slip rings. one might be stuck and not making contact.

From what I understand this unit is similar to the miller Bobcat 250NT , go to Millerwelds support and print a copy of the owners manual. follow the trouble shooting guide.

My old Hobart Champion 16 was doing the same thing, cleaned slip rings and found a cracked rectifier. replaced the rectifier and shes providing power and welding.
