I learned how to weld better at S.U.N.Y. Cobleskill 81- 83. Ran Heavy equipment up north, and spent the winters rebuilding buckets, grousers, build up wear items etc.
Worked my way down to Va. late 90's. Hung iron with CSE mid 90's. The welding consisted of a lot of wind bracing, flanges, clips. gussets, bar joists, and occasional industrial shut down work. This was just prior to " man lifts" showing up. There was a whole lot of hooking your boot into the beam. and half hanging upside down to access the weld ( good times).
Now I just play with old Harleys , tractors, and gas powered welders.

    Welcome to the forum.

I worked hanging bar joists and bracing while in college in early 70’s. I remember hooking my boots in the columns to slide down for breaks and lunch. Much quicker than getting back to the ladder. No hooks or harnesses back then. I would not want to do that now!

Thanks for the reminder of the “old days”.
