How do you secure your welder down on mobile?

I have a older Hobart Champion 16. I have requested a manual from Hobart, as their website doesn't acknowledge my serial#

My question is how you secure them on your truck or trailer. I know plenty are gravity secured with angle iron on the corners, but this unit's back battery cover goes fully to the bottom, so cannot slide out battery unless one lifts unit.

    Thanks

Make a skid for it so it's easier to bolt in place and take out when necessary. A skid could be designed so the battery can be slid out and also have somewhere to wrap the cables.

I second the skid. Makes keeping it out of the weather easier. Just take it out of the truck and stick it in the shop.

    thanks for everyone's post.

I was thinking same. After I get the trailer done, i'll get the welder in the shop and see what the bottom lottom looks like. Prolly will be some flat plate. i have plenty to spare.

To you other 2, them's nice, but I'm just welding for meself.

Here's my Miller 302 Trailblazer setup. I made a cart for inside roll a round use and then modified a smaller trailer to accommodate it by setting complete setup on trailer.
Once set I add four bolts to secure . It really works great and made a drop on bed for trailer too.

Yeah, thanks, wasn't thinking on that. if one removes the welder/skid, nice if cables come along......

Hockey pucks work good for vibration mounts.

I have the same problem with my Lincoln. The battery cover can't be removed due to the design of my skid. I have to lift the welder every time I change a battery.

Mine's bolted down through the holes provided on the bottom the welder. The only problem (battery) is that the rear access cover is butted up against a strongback, and gusset, on the skid frame. I thought of leaving out he reinforcements, but it's a skid designed for the 3pt on a tractor, so it's pretty bouncy when running over rough ground.

Must be an Albertan thing. I incorporated that idea after hearing of its use from one. LOL.

Pucks sit in the bottom of the four square tube sockets.....

Re: How do you secure your welder down on mobile?

When I sold my SA-200 to a pipeline guy, he had me set in on the bed behind the cab (right on top of a cargo strap).

Then he fired it up and used it to weld the welder to the bed...

I guess that's a welder welded welder to a welding bed.

He also had a big hole cut in the back of the cab for access to that side of the machine...

That's a redneck hack that welds their machine down.
