Aluminum filler with flux coating for SMAW?
According to the Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding - filler rods for aluminum can be ordered with flux for SMAW/stick welding. Has anyone ever done this? Can it be done in small quantities?
The only rods I've ever found at the LWS for aluminum are Crown Alloys Royal 300, 3/32".

Yeah, pretty miserable stuff to use especially in deep grooves, if you leave any flux behind it will eat it's way out of the weld. About the only good use I have found for it is as a "brazing rod" for repairing holes in thin wall irrigation pipe with a welding torch... after scraping half the flux off the rod.
