Skid steer auger and drive unit rack

My skid steer augers and drive unit have been sitting on the floor in the barn and are using up a ton of room. And the augers are dangerous if they start rolling. I decided to make a rack to store the smaller augers and the drive until in 4x4' of floor space. Goal was one day (before / after work) of design and two days (before / after work) of building.

Did a quick and dirty design in Solidworks. Spent 10% of the effort as normal on measuring existing parts and hopefully got just enough detail to build around. Augers stand up between channel and top fingers. Extension stores on top. Drive until between augers.

I don't have segmented bottom dies for my press brake, so I had to use the oxy-propane torch to heat up these inner ears and bend up. I'm not too experienced with the torch. Whatever nozzle I had on it took forever to get things warm. Never did hit glowing red, but got it warm enough to bend by hand in any case. Probably took 10 minutes to do the two ears.

Frame from C5x9 channel. I had it on hand, but wish I had something taller for the bottom pieces. C5x9 is 1.885" tall and forks on baby telehandler are 2.25" thick. Oh well, it should be rigid enough to just jam under it and go.

2x2x3/16" square tube uprights hold the top plate. Barely tacked in place so I could get things close to aligned.

Test fit the drive until this morning. Turns out that one of the skid steer quick attach pins didn't fully retract and the drive got stuck on the machine. Couldn't see that and started fighting it and end up knocking off the upper assembly. Will be better when the uprights are fully welded. But thinking some additional bracing is probably in order as well.

Got her just about done this evening. Need to flip it and do a few final welds. I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

Off to sand blast and powder coat tomorrow. Powder coat sucks for durability, but it cheap and easy to do. Metal is thick enough on this that rust won't affect it structurally in my lifetime.

How do you get the plate so nice and clean? Ours has a layer of mill scale.
    Nice work btw.

The 1/4" plate is probably HRPO. Hot Roll Pickled and Oiled. It cuts better on the laser due to being more uniform and rust free. It carries a small premium in price. Maybe $0.05 to $0.10 per pound.

    Thanks
