I bought a 36ft gooseneck trailer and have some questions on the running lights. The running lights by the axle are kinda hidden behind some angle iron. Id like to install some 3/4 lights on the fender supports instead and remove the one that is hiding. I just want the trailer to have the lights where they are supposed to be but would like to add the 3/4 lights on the fender support so I can see the fenders when turning in the dark. I will try and attach pictures

First off, I love those little marker lights, they fit almost anywhere. Those are all I use anymore rebuilding semi trailers.
Any trailer I do will have a center marker and that is usually a combo marker/side turn signal. I would say leave the original and add the markers you want to the fender supports.
40 feet and longer I add 2 markers per side between the ends and the center markers making a total of 5 on each side equally spaced. Visibility is a good thing.

From the time my dump trailer was 3 years old, the trailer lights never always worked,

Several years ago, I changed the lights to LED,, these steel boxes were so cheap,, I could not have made the steel for less than they cost.

The great part was , the boxes were so thick, it was easy to stick weld the boxes to the dump trailer.



Maybe you need to look for something like this to allow the lights to stick out from the frame a little?



I am almost proud to tow the trailer now,, as there are VERY few dump trailers around where I live with functional lights!!

Since this trailer is so long id like to see the fenders when turning at night, I assume red ones for the stop light boxes

Side markers at the rear are red, you are correct.

Mount them in the teardrop of the fender.
That's the most prominent part on the side of the trailer!
I'm going to add them in that same spot on my new trailer!

I saw a trailer,, with some unique lights (it is raining , so the lights were on!!)

Anyways, he drilled holes in the top of the fender, and stuck the little mini red LED lights right on top.
The lights looked like mini light house beacons,,
you could see them 360 degrees.

Im thinking about adding the 3/4 lights to the fender angle support instead of the fender its self, Only to hide the wires. Im not a fan of wires around the tires

You need to be careful with that. Visibility is good, a big glare in your rearview mirror at night is not... if they were bright enough, they could actually block out your view behind the tires because all you will see is the bright lights. Even some of the lights you see on mirrors of bigger trucks might look nice, but they can be really annoying when you are driving.

Only thing left is to re-deck it. I found a sawmill that will cut me some oak. Has anyone sealed theirs with used motor oil/diesel mixture? Should I coat all sides of the wood?

Yes. White oak if available is the way to go. The thinned out motor oil will soak into the wood pretty decent and do a good job of shedding water. Parking the trailer on some sort of pitch will also help to keep the decking in good shape.

Dumped it on and used an old broom to scrub it in. Brake cleaner on a rag to clean up where it splashed on the metal. I did 2 applications.

I was at Walmart yesterday,, they had oak whiskey barrels from France for only $25,, I bought one,,
My wife loves to have a half barrel next to the house,, with flowers in it,, I have purchased them in the past,,

The oak usually rots away in about 5 years,, I decided to engine oil treat the wood this time.
So, I cut the barrel in half with a circular saw, dumped oil in each half, and went to it with an old brush.

I have a plastic liner I put in the barrel, so the oil will not bother the plants,,,

We will see if the oak lasts longer with motor oil on it,,

When I cut the barrel,, the smell inside the barrel was SO NICE!!
I should have just put the cut halves in the Man Cave to make the area smell nice,,
The barrel has a VERY strong whiskey smell,,,

Since this trailer doesn't have any ramps I want to build some that lay flat on the dove tail. I need to look around and get some ideas

It did before the 15W-30 was applied,,,
I have seen rec rooms that had whiskey barrel furniture,,

15 years after the purchase of the furniture, the barrels could still pleasantly smell up the entire rec room like bourbon,,
If the room was closed for two days,, the bourbon smell was REAL strong,, nice smelling,,

$25.00 seems like a good deal for that Barrel.... I hate walmart but may go take a look see...

Those little LED's are bright... I put them on my jeep roof rack.
