    Sa200 red face

Ok I recently bought my self a 1967 sa200 red face. It still had the old style vaccume idler and the only way to run a grinder off of it is to pin the idler wide open. I’ve seen people wire them up without having to buy a kit to give access to having your machine respond to a grinder. I know their is some way you can wire it up to where it will idle up when you use the grinder. I’m just trying to save money and not buy the $400 kit. Thanks in advance.

I've had a couple of those machines with the "Grind-Eez" kits already installed. Basically it was a normally closed solenoid valve wired in series with one leg of the 120V DC from the outlet. Pull the trigger, complete the circuit, and it would dump the vacuum from the idler. I think it used a felt filter too the control the delay to keep the idler from dragging down the engine speed to soon. If I still had one I could tell you more.

Why not hook a 1500 watt invertor to the battery on the unit ?
Cleaner , more stable power .

Great idea, but you need to go to a 120 amp alternator or better to keep the battery charged and a bigger battery would be a good idea too. Wattage is wattage, nothing is free. I have a 3,000 watt inverter on one of my trucks with dual batteries and if you use it hard it will outrun the 140 amp alternators ability to charge the batteries.

I don't think a grinder would run the battery down at all , the alternator would easily keep it charged .
