Re: Tig Cooler water temerature?
You should use the reinforced hose for the times it or another hose in the system gets pinched or stepped on and the temperature goes up for a minute or two. A filter in the system clogs, the pump does not put out because it froze and no longer maintains pressure or just wears out. I like the reinforced silicon hose myself, pricey for sure. Currently, I use the reinforced rubber hose it is a high-pressure hose for pneumatics like oxy-acetylene, which does get crunchy with time and needs to be replaced.

Not really, just running 300 amps thru a 250 amp wp20 torch on a syncrowave 250.
Once the coolant in the line boils the machine could use a rest too...
Hasnt hurt anything so far

Re: Tig Cooler water temerature?
You might need to run a hose to the end of your tig torch lines then and fill up a trash can with the outlet water. That way it’s always cold water. Sounds like your water cooler you have know is not big enough or have a good enough cooling system.
Mine has a radiator but no fan because it doesn’t need it yet. I do have 230 amps available

You make a good point.
My new/improved cooler runs in/out of a 5 gallon bucket of water
I also have a radiator but I installed a electric cooling fan ( through a 220 V - 12V DC converter)
Works great, i’ve welded at 220 A pretty steady and the water doesn’t even get warm. (On DC)
So the fan is just overkill/peace of mind.
I guess.
I would imagine it would take a lot to get 5 gallons of water to the boiling point.

Re: Tig Cooler water temerature?
Compare the stinger lead from your stick welder to the tiny braided line inside your cooler hose. It can be small because the heat is carried away by the water. If the water gets too hot it doesn't transfer enough heat.
Zap ran years cooling only with city water. I tried it after I had ordered the cooler, but it was back ordered. I feel that would be fine, but our water supply isn't what it used to be. In the 1990s the 200 home system was supplied by two natural springs. There was very little mineral or other contaminants. US Government forced a "new" system on us at a cost of 2.2 million 1996 dollars. Water is warmer now, and leaves a film in a glass you can't hardly scrub out with steel wool. I'd worry about plugging a torch.

I did look into that..
But couldn't find one in 200mm size.
also, I'm using a digital temp display which runs on 12v.
happy with the fan... it's silent.
