    Which one is best generator for 140 amp welder

    Can anyone tell me what size generator to run 140 amp welder?

    At less 4,000 watt.
    If run on 240 volt Harbor Frieght or Honda
    If plan on welding all day a 6,000 to 10,000 would be best.

    FYI the large generator the fuel it will use.
    I have a Harbor Frieght 4,000 just for low fuel cost and does all my welding on a Harbor Frieght 170 mig.

    Which 140 amp welder? Generally to run a welder you need a a much larger generator than you think because of electrical inefficiency. Lincoln recommends a 12,000 watt generator to run an AC225. Yu don't need that big but about probably half of that or more. There's a reason most people just get an engine drive welder if they have any amount of remote welding to do.

    Most manufacturers like over kill on size for but cover.
    I agree 6,000 watts does the job.
