Check with the Scout/IH. Clubs in Washington. Lots of them there for some reason. Don’t forget to include the 800s in your search, they usually have the bigger 4 cylinder, or the later V-8. The bodies are the same, interior changed a wee bit.
Mine is a 1967. I changed the 4 to a 345 V-8 and the difference is amazing. Upgraded the axles as well.

Will do. I’m not limiting myself to the original Scout 80’s. It’s amazing how many different power train offerings IH had in a limited vehicle line.

Yep
And those little corn binder engines run pretty damn good

Like I said mine was a rust bucket but it ran great and the previous owner plowed with it for 25 years plus
No brakes/rusted all to hell But will push snow all day long

Okay. I’m still looking but I came across this 1946 KB-2 in BC.

“Daily driver Ford 300 mated to C4 auto trans.”

Not what I was looking for but reasonably priced and awful tempting…..

I know a fellow has a early style, I'll guess '68. It looks good in recent paint, but I'd have to crawl under to say excellent. Yes, it is offered for sale. Vermont is probably too far to travel.

My cousin, more nearly my sister married a man pretty rough on equipment. He bought one each year, '67,'68,69 .....By the time he had used them a year, they were hammered. What I might take from that is:

A: They only lasted a year.
B: They lasted a whole year!!!!

I think B is the truth.

Elbert Crosby, the younger generation of E C Crosby & Sons, our local everything store ran the IHC tractor dealership. They bought IH trucks at a discount. I believe his Scout was 1972? He drove it until the rear of the body was falling off from rust. His was a full cab. I cut it behind the driver's seat, plated it off. I put new rockers in. New rear window was plexi that had to be replaced a few times as you couldn't see through it. I built a tiny stepside steel body. I wish I had pictures. I painted it in the original Red & White two tone. To me, it looked nicer than new. He drove it daily until the rear spring hangers came up through the floor, the frame too rusted out.

In 1973, after the Volunteer Fire Company "Lawn Party" fund raiser was cleaned up on Sunday morning, there was a need to blow off steam. The 4x4 owners were "hooking up". The 3/4 ton pickups (of course) made the most damage, they all pulled on pavement. There were a couple antiques, then Elbert in the Scout & me in the CJ5 were the only ones in weight range. We weren't pulling on pavement, we did gravel. I had him in horsepower, he had me in weight. We spun in one place till both axles were resting on the ground. I'll describe it as a draw.

I chatted with the fellow that was selling this for his friend.

The ad on Facebook got zero replies. Listed the ad on Kijiji and Craigslist the next day, got 20 inquiries and sold the following morning for full asking price.

Quite a few odds and ends I need to do but it is basically rust free and good to go.

I love it. Even though I used to tease Scout guys and call Scouts "Death sucking on lifesavers". I really wish I would have kept my '63 with the pickup cab.

I was going to say if I knew you would settle on a KB, I have one in the pasture... but it's not quite as shiny or roadworthy as the one you got. Looks to be in exceptionally good condition.
