    WTB IH Scout 80

Hey guys. I'm looking for an IH Scout 80.

Gotta be good shape and running. Not looking for a project.

    Thanks.

My buddy has one. He works on it for 8 months so he can use it for 6 weeks during hunting season!
Around here they are either so rotted out their not worth hauling to the scrap guy or they are totally restored and
the owner thinks it's worth $20,000!

That's what I'm running into. Now that the original Ford Bronco craze has peaked Scouts have doubled in price in the last two years.

I want one for sentimental reasons. When they first came out I was 10 years old and my dad and I talked /dreamed about getting one for the farm but we could never afford one.

We bought this Bronco new and painted it our company colors in 1980 shortly before he died....

Bronco is long gone now too.

Nope. One of the early ones with the slightly shorter wheelbase.

Early 60’s ideally but I can’t be picky. Only 500 thousand were built in 20 years …..probably about the same number of Chevys in 1957.

I had three of them at various points in my life. One in the SUV configuration with the full top and second row seat, and two of the "pickup" models. One of those "pickup" models had a IH 345 cu in V8 school bus engine. The other two had the slant 4.I wish I could have ANY of them back.

You better dig deep in yer wallet…
They are not quite as high as the early Ford Bronco
    But quickly sneaking up.

I bought this rust bucket 1961
And turned it on Ebay for a huge profit
The guy couldn’t wait to get the money out of his pocket.

If you want a good running vehicle/ no project… you are looking at 15-20k
    Easy.

Trovid.com must have 3 pages of them listed. Almost all the refurbished ones under $20k are scams.

Multiple listings all different cities. Same photos and description but listing prices all differ by 20 dollar increments.

The “half cab” configuration (pickup truck version) appeals to me the most, like in John’s photos.

I had a '63 half cab with the 151 four cylinder in 1979, paid 300 bux for the nasty little oil burner. sold it a year later for $900. Now I wish I still had it.

I messaged two similar private seller ads. They were cooperative with pics and descriptions until I asked for an address and phone number so that I could do a lien and Carfax. Hmmmm. LOL

    Re: WTB IH Scout 80

Some of the better truck deals I've come across lately seem to be in Sask., which is a royal pain when you have to get a Mb. safety, but you might try searching their local ads more... Maybe northern Alberta or the BC interior. Not exactly handy, but less rust than what I see around here.

In that case lease and mileage charges should just about cover paint and body work
