Cool best 6013 rod using 180i on 110 volts

Hi, Recently purchased a 180i. So far, I'm extremely pleased. Both my son and I can at least run continuous (sloppy) beads on scrap as we teach ourselves and practice. We've been using Lincoln Excalibur 7018, 3/32" rods.

The current issue: We're going to weld some stiffeners on a mower deck. The mower is in the country and we'll be working off a generator. Portions of the 1/8" thick, 2"x2" angle iron stiffener have an small to maybe 3/16" gap to be filled/welded. Depending on how we can maneuver the mower deck the welding will be horizontal to almost overhead. We were planning on 6013 rods because we wanted light penetration of the existing deck, and fast freeze since approaching overhead is going to be a test of our ability. (Actually, it'll all be a test of our ability. But we want to give it a shot. )

    Any general suggestions?
Any specific suggestions on a brand of 6013 rod that someone has had good success with using the 180I on 110 volts?

    Thanks. Florida Al

3/32" is a good size choice, and although I don't mind 6013, they are not a "fast-freeze" rod.

3/32" or 1/8" 6011 are a very good choice for what you are doing.

    I would prefer 1/8" 6011 for this over 3/32" 6013.

Both will run on the available amps with 120v input.

Edit: as a bonus, 6011 rods have such light slag that repeated overlapping tacks or short overlapping beads are much easier to do.
