    gthomson from California

I wanted to go to welding school instead of college for tech - that was about 40 years ago.
Parents convinced me to stick with it, which I did. It was all good.
But I'm now coming up on 58, and retired, and interested in welding still.
So I signed up for a local Adult Ed class on welding.
I did a semester of oxy/acetylene welding 40 years ago. But that was about it.

Second 3 hour session in this new/current adult ed class we were hands-on MIG welding.

And attached are my best initial attempts.
At this point - I'm not looking for how to do better - those posts will come later.
Just a post that I'm new here, and it's where I am with it to get started in the welding world.

Initially I was thinking I'd get the YesWelder that has the 5 options - MIG, TIG, Arc, plasma, etc...
But now I'm thinking I'll just go with a Lincoln 180 - I don't think I'll need TIG or Arc

    Re: gthomson from California

Just got a Lincoln MP 210 two days ago - I don't know that I have a reason to do stick or TIG, but I didn't want to buy another setup if I did.
Will focus on MIG with gas for now, and go from there if I need anything more.

Probably not good common sense to be welding with all that wood around, and flaming balls spattering about, but it was just a quick test to see if I could get a bead. Will now start to work on a better common sense oriented area to continue on.
