Scrap metal chameleon
Hey all,
I just finished my latest welding/animatronic project : A veiled chameleon out of sheet metal, springs, pool balls and bicycle chain.
You can find the whole build video here:

Re: Scrap metal chameleon
Now that is recycling to a new level, fantastic to watch scrape to art progression. I have built many things but I am using standard material and a following a design for the final product. This is using what you have to an unknown shape, a true build as you go deal. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for your kind words!
Always happy to find new subscribers
You're right about the build as you go - it's a bit unsettling because unlike the papercraft to metal octopus I made earlier there is no plan, no script, just some reference images and videos.

Geico would be proud to display that in their corp office lobby. Very nice!

Re: Scrap metal chameleon
Awesome!
I would want to Put a ring (doorbell wifi cam) in the eye and use it on the porch, though it might get stolen.
Great video too btw, no redundant or talking with zero information bits but still inclusive of pretty much the entire build.
You've got the editing down pretty well except for one complaint, you should have shown more of the finished "chromelium" from a few different angles, I felt like I wanted to see more of it!

Re: Scrap metal chameleon
Thank you so much!
I was toying with the idea of a ring cam (or face tracking eye movement whatever..) but did not go for it in the first iteration. There is room though.. :-)
Your constructive feedback on the video is exactly what I was hoping for. I will surely keep this in mind!
