Problem with getting notifications

I don't seem to be getting notifications to threads i start or subscribe to. How can i fix this?

I understand the probation period, but how would they do a background check?

I don't use personal info on the net so how are they going to do a background check on me? I just dont get it.

Ive been a part of many forums over the years and have never heard of a background check. It sounds like a lot to go through just for a forum.

I've been a member for a little while and posted a bit. Currently I get email notifications on likes but not on posts to which I'm subscribed. When I post I think it's only courteous to acknowledge replies. Right now I don't know when they come.
