It's so sad...there were so many great companies making vises years ago and we're down to only one that still makes some in the U.S.
Very true about the refund. Still better than nothing tho..

Have you run into any Samsonia Perfect vises down there?

Note the through bolts for the replaceable jaw inserts similar to the Dawn.

I have a shop made anvil and forge that will do for now. The anvil is made of good steel from forklift tines but i don't have a hardy hole in it yet and my horn needs shaped a little more with the grinder. I thought about making a separate hardy table out of some 2" bar stock, or buying some thick plate steel. I'm not sure if i can drill into the tines or not so i can flame cut the hardy hole.. But yea, one anvil and forge is not enough, lol.

I've torched out my own Hardy holes.

Did you drill a hole first before flame cutting?

Yes. Two holes diagonally across from each other.

The cut hole was large enough to accommodate a short section of 1.25 square (seamless) receiver tubing which I welded in place.

This allows the use of 1.25" shank hardie tools.

I can cross one tool off that list. I did a job today and bought the hammer drill.
