    coffe table from square tubing.

    Heres my last project.
Wanted to make a kind of rustic looking coffe table. Since I was not able to avoid grinding, I had to paint it, so it did not come out that rustic any more, but still.. not a bad table in my opinion.

Krikey! Coffee table for Zeus? Nice simple design, but don't expect the wife to lift that.

I like the gussets for strength!

OP…nice build and I guess steel don’t cost as much where you are cause that looks expensive and that looks strong enough to work as a HD workbench as well….

You need a "sofa" to go with the coffee table, 2" x 1/4" angle, 1" solid round steel bars, steel wheels,, Composite boards, and LOTS of stainless bolts!!

    Nice work,

I tend to go lighter weight and use 12x24 floor tiles for the tops and shelves

Steel(and also wood) is still expensive. But since this build was more for the fun of building suff, its not that bad. Fot the cost of the material(bought in small qty`s) i could have for sure bought the most expensive coffe table from IKEA.

And the gussets.. these are just for the bolt to go through, to hold the table top.

I also made holes in the endplates of legs, with a M16 nut welded on the inside, so the table could be leveled(probably couple of mm adjustment is needed) with M16 bolts. But I need to find some sort of plastic caps for the bolts, so it does not scratch the floor.

Our local Walmart carries Plasti-Dip spray that would coat those bolt heads with a thick scratch resistant coating,, for $6,,,

    I like the Plasti-Dip idea.

I made levellers using heavy washers and 5/8” bolts for this lathe stand. A round felt pad could be glued to the underside (perhaps)

That may also work for your industrial look.

I have been welding nuts on the bottom(inside) of everything lately to make things adjustable. I have mada a bunch of silimary styled stools also, but for these a standard M8 leveling things work fine.

The bottoms of those stool legs are nicely finished.

    Great attention to detail

I would recommend against plasti-dip for this as it is vinyl and will leach plasticizers and leave marks on surfaces. You want either teflon or HDPE or possibly PP plastic caps for this so they don't leave marks and are soft enough not to scratch.

    And nice work!

I’m interested in how you support the tiles. Is it solid under the tiles or straps?

Are the tiles flush on top with the steel or are they under the steel?

I use some flat bar to support the tops and make them flush with the tube.
The lower shelves have two tiles double stacked for ballast.

Those tables really look good. Another take on them would be to leave a slot down the middle for a trash tray. As you're preparing food, the scraps get scraped into a drawer that you empty later. I've made several for people out of their granite sink cut outs.

    The Base looks GREAT.

But it needs a better looking top and bottom shelf.

sorry if that was mentioned before... I didn't read the other replies.

My opinion is the only one that matters.

    Keep up the good work.
