Adapting Lincoln Magnum 250LX Spool gun.

Has anyone ever adapted the Lincoln magnum 250LX to anything other than using it on the power MIG machines? I wanting to possibly adapt this gun to my Lincoln ranger 250GXT. Would it be as simple as splicing a 6 pin plug on to it that the Lincoln Magnum SG (K487-25) uses, or converting the plug on the K488 control module to receive the 250LX spool gun? I don't want to spend all this money on stuff if it is not possible. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and can tell me how it can be done.
