Where is the broken one at??
I know some of the guys on here would make more money from fabbing the broken one into art,, than making the new cover!!

The new one looks sharp,, like it was meant to be there!!

The design is aesthetically pleasing. Would look good in the middle of a welding table for clamping fixtures!

If you need a good fit, I mean a really good fit.......................you can do a diaphragm. I'll have to go back over some project pics to find what I generally do. Try to get to it tonite.

The pics were in the current 3yr file. Musta brought them in from a few years back.

What I needed was a very tight, precise fit between two pieces of telescoping tubing. The out-of-the-mill sizes were close, but not close enough...........................

I made a tight fitting diaphragm out of plate, and inserted it into the main body of the large tubing, so that a smaller piece would fit at a close tolerance. I think the pic is self explanatory.

I wanted a close fit because the thing had to bear a lot of weight without flopping from side to side. This was during the suspension rebuild on the Great Dane about a decade ago.



If you space the diaphragms properly(wide enough apart), you get a very precise fit.
