    Hobart D-300 GMdiesel powered welder

I recently acquired a 2-53 GM diesel powered welder, Spec 3520...........Serial 12CW 28133 . Interested in a manual to show special governor controls originally installed, assuming it had a lower speed idle when not welding , then engage governor for 1800 RPM when welding .

Parts list or manual preferred .

I had a 600 amp Hobart with a 2-71, It had no idler just a couple levers on the top of the governor. One for speed control and the other was the stop lever. The speed control had an adjustable spring setup to hold 1800 Rpm. I set it up with a locking cable to pull it down to idle and a heavy duty choke cable for the kill lever so I could control it from the panel end without having to reach under the hood. I don't think any of the older diesel machines had idlers.

Actually the 2-71 wasn't too bad at 1800 RPM. just kind of a growl not howl. But it did stink if you were down wind. A bunch of air arc work now and then cleaned that up.
