    Buried Dad Today

Buried my father today, it was a really nice ceremony they send two representatives in full dress from the army out to do taps and fold the flag. I put his last TIG torch in with him I know he will need it where ever he goes. He will be missed. That damn Alzheimer dementia got him.

I am so sorry to hear that William. Dementia is a hard disease and even though you see the end coming it is still sad.

    Re: Buried Dad Today

    Hell Bill, bad news.

Once he's gone, and if your Mom's gone.............................you're alone in the world. Family, kids, maybe...........but once your parents are gone, you're pretty much on your own.

Dad's down at Fort Gibson, Mom's at the tribal cemetery. See them when I can.

I dread the day K'kins Mom passes.

BTW Bill.............we're probably both candidates for Alzheimers, you and me. Runs in families, despite a lot of people denying that their kin weren't right at the end. And....we live long enough these days for the eventual onset of Alzheimers........it's just a fact of life.

    You take care.

The grieving comes when all the work of taking care of the particulars wears off. Takes time.

I'm sorry about that William. It doesnt sound as bad as some diseases like cancer..., or that he had extensive suffering.
So, it coulda been worse. We all gotta go, and I and some of us don't want to live to be too old.

The last two years are pretty bad. And they get something called sun downing. In the end they cannot walk or move their hands and arms and then they cannot eat or swallow. It is pretty gruesome.

It is kind of funny but just a week and a half a ago he was in rehab, I went to see him because they said he took a turn for the worse and he was going to pass soon. So I went up to see him and I was just talking to him because he could not talk. I was talking about all the stuff he taught me and had brought home from Grumman to show me, I told him that as far as I was concerned he was the best dad there was. I see movement under the sheet, he is giving me the jerk off sign by just moving his hand up and down, haha. He was still in there. Anytime you try to give an Irish father a compliment they will do something like that and then tell you how if I am so great why don’t you do what I asked you to do, about something or other, haha.

    Sincerely,

    William McCormick
