I dont have expensive implements, only a couple hay pieces but i try to keep center cleared for winter parking. Stuff i use. Some of my 4eal short seasonal i made covers to keep it out of the way.
The Makita cordless tool storage now has power. Lol
And I found a part sheet of some type
of flooring with a white finish for the wall which saved me from having to paint. Only had to cut to size and peel the plastic protective film off.
I asked my realtor to find me a piece of land recently. Something still close to my local beaches, 5 to 10 acres, fully wooded, outside city limits, no HOA, both residential and industrial zoning.
This is what I have in mind. Shop with "living quarters". All metal and concrete building. No more termite loving wood framing and shingles that only last 10 years.
My dream shop would have an overhead gantry crane that could get to every part of the floor. The uses for a gantry crane are unlimited, as long as you have the load capacity. Ideally something like a 5 tonner that could pick up and move machines around as well as materials...
I'd have the living/office quarters pushed to one side of the shop on ground and 1st floor, with internal storage balcony so the crane could lift stuff up and down from there if needed also.

I had a 9 ton forklift it move almost everything. But would buy plate at 20 tons FYI I had cut plate for unloading
I found a hoist or forklift is never to small.

I remember when my Dad's uncle and his buddy were in their 80's. They mounted a light hand winch crane in the back of a 60's IHC pickup to scrounge scrap iron for fun. Twisted the snot out of that poor little pickup box... it was constantly overloaded...

I talk to farmers with 5 ton Hydraulic hoist and still too small. They rated 5 tons at 3 foot but boom out it drops.
Moving ag equipment is hard to do with a truck hoist. I like a tow forklift at least 6,000 pounds. But still ag equipment will go over that limit too.

PS: I found ag equipment that was over 20,000 pounds
My tractor trailer was a max axel weight 12,000 pounds and put over 13,000 pounds on the trailer witch would bring the axel weight over 20,000 pounds.

LOL. If I'm still around when you're 80 I'll come out and spend a week with you picking up scrap.
