I just hired 2 young guys and I was telling them that helmet has auto darkening. And they cant tell me it doesn't, because I used that same helmet in votech.

All you do it put a small stick rod stub in through the bottom and you have a 1/8" perfectly clear gap and when you strike the arc, bam, auto darkened.....

Yup...unless it falls off your head into a river, or hits the deck from 60 feet up they last for damn near forever...they crack put some gorilla tape on it maybe with some JBWeld to help hold it and no batteries to wonder about

the solid front/910, yes, u cvan drop them off sizzor lift all day. not the flip up type. just broke a 906 couple weeks ago. the weak part is arm b/t hinge and lens frame. hardly room to jb weld it in that spot cuz of housing clearance when closed .

    Re: Jumped on This One

The only snivel Ive got with the Fibermetal hoods is the plastic they are made from, it seems stiff and brittle and cracks easily in the winter. The new weld hoods today are made from softer more flexible plastic and dont seem tocrack at all. My favorite was that old cardboard or whatever Huntsman with the slider in it, I rigged that one up to be used for a hardhat and wore it for years, then one day it rained like the 40 day flood and I made a mad dash for my rig, put the hood in a toolbox on my rig and jumped in the truck. When that hood finly dried out it would never fit on my hard hat again and it didnt work with the regular setup either

    Yeah,I managed to break a Fibre-metal.
My flip front failed at lens frame hinge after about 20 years.
Still using my solid front I got 40+ years ago. Changed the
headgear once and epoxied a crack. Also cut bottom down
so it doesn’t hit my chest.

The last cheap one I bought came with a plastic lens I wasn't crazy about... changed it out for a glass #12. Other than yea... pretty dependable and almost indestructible under normal conditions. I have one with a #5 lens I use for the cutting torch as well. A little more cumbersome than goggles, but they keep the flying bb's off your face.

Large band-aid looks more professional. Just until it heals.

IMO Gorilla is a good product but the reason for their success is 10% performance and 90% marketing.

Congrats on the good find. I like my auto darkening lenses though, but it's nice to have redundancy and reliability too!

Same experience with my paper huntsman. Heavy rain and never could reshape it.

I did order one of those for 25 bucks. Not a fan of flip lens. But will give it another shot.

The post office closes at 11:30 on Saturday. I got the package notice on Friday.

So we hop in her car, and get there before it closes today. I'm all excited about the new hood

So, I either gotta buy a hard hat, or new regular head gear The picture on Fleabay didn't show the hood from the back, only the front

That sux, the wife ordered a new patio set yesterday at a relly good price, I just hope it's some sort of semblence of real!

The hood I use regularly has a neat headgear, the back portion pivots to allow you to find the best position on your head and it' doesn't fall off!

Oh my.... that is an even cheaper version of my cheapies. I see those go for less than $20 at farm auctions all the time with older, better head gear. No head gear kicking around from an old flip up grinding shield?

the 5 before the 906, specifys its a speed loop headgear. a 906 w/ a ratchet headset come stock w/ a "3 c". fibre metal is a bit of a burn w/ parts. probabaly approaching 30 bucks nowdays to get it sent to u. i got a new "1 ul" replacement hanging on my wall, it looks like it will work.

u can get a low profile fibre metal baseball cap style hardhat (or equiv), and reverse the headgear in it, so the visor/bill, points backwards like a gangbanger , and the speedloop will drop right over. so u paid 50, probabaly 60+ goin rate w/ ratcher geat, so u lost 20-, but gained a hardhat setup. look at the bright side, wear it for protection on some nasty overhead, or in future when u need to carry a long handled pitch fork for the streets of so cal
