    Pocket Tools

Are there any tools that you carry on you all the time? Besides my pocket knife and big ZT folding knife, I carry a Leatherman Micro. The little scissors on it have come in handy many times. The tool that I can't do with out is my Pocketwrench. I use it multiple times a day and it has really saved me several times. I mainly use it to pry with or as a wedge. It is made of D2 tool steel and it has never broke or bent in the 35 or so years I've carried it It was actually chrome when I got it, but no more.

    Re: Pocket Tools

Not so much anymore, but the one tool I used to pack every day was a set of Snap-On compound action slip joint pliers, they had a hell of a grip and the cutters would snip 5/32" rods with hardly any effort. Nowadays I stay close enough to the toolbox I dont carry much.

...empties pockets out... Ear plugs, a lighter and some lint, yep I'm ready. Now on my belt is different story... spare magazines, knife , side arm, and a watch. Custom 119 Buck knife is my everyday tool to grab for that no matter where I go stays with me and helps in more ways than without it.

    Re: Pocket Tools

When did a lot field work I used a tool belt. One pouch for nuts and bolts or other hardware items, one for tools, rod pouch, chipping hammer with wire brush and 25 foot tape.
All most nothing in pockets (wallet, safety glass, soap stone & keys, today a phone too).

I usually put my wallet in the truck somewhere hidden,Im right next to it anyway, my keys stay in the truck too, the phone stays in the truck too, I got no use for the damn thing when Im workin, you need to talk to me leave a message I will call you back.

I saw way too many fellas lose their wallet keys etc on the job. The phone? Shucks I wish the damn thing never happened some days. I ran a few fellas off for playin on the damn thing when they are supposed to be workin, one guy that I ran off I found havin phone sex in the crapper one morning, I told him Hey sunshine after you blow your wad in there meet me at my printshack I got some papers for you to sign before you leave...He wasnt happy with me

A few times I did lockup my wallet and now phone in truck toolbox. Only for some types of work. I alway keep the keys I wished a had a combo lockup for the keys they would hurt or cut my leg.
But key ring had equipment keys for most brands of forklift handy to have.

    Re: Pocket Tools

I get made fun of my Dickie shirt pocket all the time. It has "my brain" (a small black notebook) 1 pen for people to steal and hopefully get back, 2 standard sharpies, 2 ultra fine sharpies, 1 gel pen (they work well in -10* freezers), a mechanical pencil, pocket screwdriver, and a pocket flashlight.

Other pocket has my mask in it so I dont forget it.

My jeans pockets, standard stuff and a knife.

What I inherited from my dad was the dislike of guys standing around with their hands in their pockets.

Also, bad posture and people who shuffled (didn't lift their feet) used to drive him around the bend LOL.

I always attributed it to his stint in the army.

    Re: Pocket Tools

Back 1970's women had no pockets.
Women use a tool pouch with a strap.

To day I see women have pockets too full of tools. How it has changed for pockets.

As a combat vet I will say pick your feet up when you walk and move with a purpose if not you will irritate me and you will be left behind trying to keep up.

I forgot about my shirt pocket. Notebook, reading glasses, pen, pencil, soap stone holder and flashlight. That little flash light see a lot of use by me and all the people that borrow it to see some thing. I've had it since 2009 when I read about it on here on a thread about flash lights. It's a Streamlight Microstream. It's about the best little light to keep on you that I've found.

    Re: Pocket Tools

When I was working, I had a Leatherman and mini-mag lite I carried in a holster on my belt. Pockets usually wire nuts, nuts , blown fuses, what ever was I was working on there were some parts of it in my pockets. I was an industrial maintenance mechanic in a box plant.
