    Shorthood sa200 idling too high

Hey guys. I just got a new to me shorthood. Went to start it and that sucker sounded like it was going to explode so I immediately shut it off. It has an electronic distributor and a bellows idler. It’s also running a spring from the carburetor to the governor for some reason. Just wondering how I should start Messing with it. Pics are attached

Yeah I think the bellows idler is busted and the spring would hold it in high idle. Weird that they just didn’t pin the bellows to stay. I’ll have to mess with it some more later

My spring on my shorty goes in the opposite direction like this. The way you got it is pulling it into high idle instead of the default position back down to low. Someone monkeyed with it.

Like has been said, remove that spring from the carburetor going to the governor. What has happened is that some one has fiddled with the governor high idle setting, and possibly the linkage setting on the carburetor to. It can be a little tricky but don't get discouraged.
