    Re: Coffee maker

I've had half a glass of white wine so far tonight and I don't know what you're talking about but if it's a yeast infection quit putting 7 sugars in that coffee and it might help. If your doctor is pretty that alone could be a good reason for a visit. My doctor is male and older than me and I still go see him 3 times a year except when I need a physical for my driver's license(every other year now) and then it's 4 times. He's okay but I wouldn't call him pretty. Enjoy whatever life you can, it can get cut short all too soon. Party on!

    Re: Coffee maker

I have never been what you called a coffee addict,,
I started drinking it in the US Navy,, and have it occasionally.
I never figured out how to make it at home,, maybe that was a good thing??

Anyways,, I found a video on YouTube on how to make the BEST coffee,, I could be addicted to this, I am just not sure,,

    Give this a try,,,

    For me, the recipe is:
    22 ounces of water,
2 heaping teaspoons of coffee grounds,,
    Add a shake of salt.

    BOIL HARD for 4 minutes,
any container, and any heat source will do,,

Pour in about 2 ounces of room temp water when the 4 minutes is up.
let it set at least a half minute.

    Enjoy!!

It is the ONLY coffee that I have made at home that I would rate as great,,

Different coffee's will change the taste some, but, (not including hazelnut,, etc flavored) most brands taste pretty much the same,
or at least taste close to similar,,

I have seen the articles about the Keurig type coffee makers, and what will grow in the plumbing of those machines,,
    NO, THANK YOU!!

i drink soda, but live in a world of coffee addicts. my female part of the family by force changed everyone to keirug or whatever it's called, single cup stuff. now the men complained but changing it to folgers cup (whatever your brand is, we're cheap lol) made a world of difference. the women in the fam bought costco stuff that lol,, was not good according to the consensus

Out in the shop, I just nuke a cup of water for 2 mins. and toss some instant in it. Might not be the best cup of coffee you've ever had, but at least it's never given me a social disease...

Those keurig coffee makers, one cup at a time, not to mention the cost (even the generics) are a pain in the arse! One cup only turns on my "Start Engine" light...two or three more gets me going.

My mother in law has one. There is a little plastic basket you can get that's refillable so you can just put your favorite brand of coffee in it...

It amazes me that people "pride" their coffee so much,,
they are willing to spend so much "$$$$" on coffee,, and not end up with the best,,

I guess it is like many other things, it takes time to get the best,,
I have several relatives that will throw ANY money at coffee, (such as the Keurig coffee makers),, then settle for their "dishwater" results.
Several of them started with the high dollar Keurig cups, then reverted to the house brand to save money.
And, then there is the Starbucks kind of coffee places,,
Maybe I need to get someone to help me order,
I have never had any drink from there that I even like, let alone would say it is worth the $$,,

The other thing I see them do is set the water volume higher on the Keurig machine, which, IMHO, just dilutes the end result.
I am glad I do not have to prepare the Diet Coke I drink,, I would probably dilute that,, as well!! LOL!!

As for Starbucks coffee....if I have to learn a foreign language to order my coffee, I am not about to order any!!!! I tried plain Starbucks coffee just once to see what all the romance with it was all about. That's the worst tasting coffee I have ever drunk. No wonder they add all the foo-foo stuff to it...to help kill the taste!

    Re: Coffee maker

I gave up coffee about two years ago. I noticed that when I would run up ten flights or more in a commercial building and I had a few cups of coffee that morning, my ankles would swell a little, and my hands. But when I didn’t drink coffee nothing, no problem. So I quit I feel much better, save a ton of money too. Now if I feel like I want something hot I microwave or steam milk what better for a welder?

    Sincerely,

I rarely have a coffee out and Starbucks to me is the worst!

But having said that I really like my two cups a day at home. I stock up on Starbucks French Roast from Costco on sale.

Works out to about $.17 (Cdn) a cup.

The "Crazy Cat Man" cup... explains a lot. But then again I have the shop cats that climb all over me when I work. Those guys have been murdering mice lately.

    Coffee maker

The cats usually stayed with me while my daughter was traveling but she'll have been gone a year this February.

    Re: Coffee maker

Coffee is just like food or music or women/men or cars or .. or .. or
Your "perfect cup" may taste like crap to me and vice-versa.
Add to that my "perfect cup" changes over time.

For me, if you really want to step up your coffee then grind your beans just before you brew it. Oxygen kills coffee.
Next step is get a good brewer, something that brews close to 200*f (~94* c for the enlightened majority).
Final step is roast your own bean. This is a rabbit hole to go down that Alice would be proud of.

My shop coffee involves tossing the cheapest instant I can get into the microwave for 2 mins. Most people seem to agree it tastes like crap. Keeps me from drinking too much coffee.

    Re: Coffee maker

My mom made the worst coffee for her and dad. She never measured so the result was always inconsistent. Oddly enough it was consistently BAD.

My sister and I always figured she'd luck out with a good brew once in a while but --never happened.

Consequently I never had caffeine until my 40's. Usually a shot of Grande Marnier in a cappuccino if out for dinner.

I dunno, for me it's Folgers "Colombian blend" in a regular drip machine. Nobody wants to talk to me until I have the second cup. You can ask a few truck drivers that were hanging out at the door far too early in the morning.
