    Ahp 201 AC balance

    Hi,
I am getting around to tig some aluminum. The orange user manual for my AHP leaves a lot to be desired.

Is the AC Balance knob a percentage of negative to positive in which case, on this machine, i dial to 75% for negative with a 25% cleaning cycle?

The way they word cleaning is a little ambiguous for a newbie.

    Thanks

different manufacturers pick different interpretations for the percentage.
To find out empirically, set the cleaning percent to 95%.
If there is very little oxide cleaned area (the white surface next to the weld) then your welder shows the percentage of the time for negative current .
If cleaned area is large and your tungsten wants to melt off, then your welder shows the percentage of time for positive current.

    Now adjust to your liking.

Thanks. I can do this but I was looking for someone who owns this machine and can just say, then I will just label the knob...I have seen videos where the wrong setting with excess cleaning can produce extreme excitement...I do not want to shatter a cup.

    Hey man, Thanks for responding!

Jody does a video on the AlphaTIG 200X and covered the settings pretty well. I doubt AHP changed how they mark balance as they came out with minor variations on the machine. He starts with the AC balance at 35% and makes a point to mention that it's 35% electrode positive or 35% cleaning. It's worth watching.
