Will a 1/16 collet hold the 1/16 tungsten tight in a 3/32 collet body? I have a Furick Ally 5 and they only come in 3/32, and would like to run an 1/16 electrode on some small aluminum.

It may work but you might wreck your collet body. A better idea would be to taper the heck out of your 3/32" tungsten to imitated a 1/16" tungsten.

Probably not be able to hold the tungsten. As shovelin stated, you will probably do damage to the back cap or body due to the tightening of the back cap. Again, like shovelin stated, work on a more tapered 3/32 tungsten IF you're in a bind.

i done it a time or two in a jam or by accident. i think thats why i have a couple collets in my box, that are deformed/flexed outward near top of slits
