Having a fuel issue. Engine starts to over load and lose power during idle and while welding. Turn the ignition of and back on real quick and it smoothes out for 30-60 seconds before doing it again. Noticed excessive fuel coming from top of throttle body. Customer says this problem started after unit got wet from rain. Drained and replaced fuel and changed fuel filters. Spark plugs are black from running too rich. Sounds like something electronic. Check all grounds and connections. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

There's a few YouTube videos on Kohler EFI issues with their cobbled together fuel injection. I watched them all while trying to decide on whether I got a Bobcat 260 EFI or not.

The older ones have a vacuum operated lift pump that moves fuel from the tank into the sealed high pressure pump module which has a needle valve that gets stuck. The newer ones have an electric lift pump but still have the goofy little tub that houses the high pressure EFI pump. I think that the float and valve in the high pressure module is supposed to be like the return on regular automotive fuel injection and when the valve gets stuck open or closed, or the lift pump goes bad.

One way to tell if the valve and float is stuck in the high pressure module is to shake it and if it rattles, the valve is moving freely. If it doesn't, the valve is stuck.

The 10% ethanol gas plays havoc with the fuel system if it sits for any length of time. The ethanol evaporates and creates a waxy build up that gasoline doesn't dissolve.
