Interested in a set to aid in break down on gas torch set. Any favorites in style or brands. Seem fairly close in price

I have used Superior for years and have had great results from them. They are also made in the USA.

If I were to use QD connections on a torch, I would install a short whip to put them on the end of, so as to not have the extra length/weight on the torch handle, and also to make it harder to accidentally disconnect them.

That's a pretty cool idea. Seems cut and dry, but are there any reasons to choose one "method" over another for connection?

I use Western brand fittings ...

But for some reason I have these Victors also

I like oldirons's suggestion for a short whip but in my case I like the added stiffness as it gives my little Blueshield the handling qualities of a long handled Victor.

It depends on the size of the torch, the type of work being done and thus whether the extra length & weight is useful or a hindrance. Below are a few pictures from the Shorpy site, two showing a smaller torch being appropriate, while the last, showing a worker cutting plate, might benefit from having extra tail weight and a better balance.
